WhatsMyInfo / FIELD NOTES

Understand your digital snapshot

An IP address and a browser setting answer different questions. Neither is a verified identity.

One connection can represent many devices

The public address shown here is the source address observed for your request. With network address translation, several devices can share a public IPv4 address. A VPN or proxy can change the address an internet service sees. Your local Wi-Fi address may be different.

A browser snapshot is a report, not a scan

Language, time zone, screen dimensions and the software identification string come from browser APIs. Privacy features can reduce or alter them. Screen dimensions are in CSS pixels, not necessarily your panel’s hardware resolution. Time zone does not verify your physical location.

“Online” has a narrow meaning

The browser’s connection hint does not prove internet access or that a particular website is reachable. This page does not run a speed test, inspect local devices, detect a VPN, or ask for geolocation permission.

Share deliberately

A support team rarely needs every available detail. Public IP is omitted from the report by default. Read the preview, include only what is relevant, and send it through a channel you trust. These fields can contribute to fingerprinting even though our tool does not build a visitor profile.
